The legendary producers Hernán Cattáneo & Marcelo Vasami put a Progressive spin on the Mexican triple threat and French Duo’s latest single.
Recently, Mexican singer, songwriter, and producer Dark But Gray and French DJ duo Pandhora dropped a collaborative single titled ‘Signs’. The track focuses on a theme of “unrequited love, melancholy, and doubt” and wishes to “transport listeners…” through time’s journey. Listeners will truly relate to the themes being provoked by the music, certainly one of the best things about music. Alongside the original, Dark But Gray and Pandhora asked a few of their fellow producers Hernán Cattáneo and Marcelo Vasami to provide their own remixes.
The Argentines musicians responded to said request and sent in a remix, adding their signature Progressive flair. Pulsating beats and cacophonous percussion waste no time starting the track, giving a sense of urgency and rapid pacing. Soothing, psychedelic synths, however, keep the listener relaxed and tranquil, alongside a groovy, deep bassline, feeling no need to rush. Dark But Gray’s vocals feel raspy and soulful, giving a sense of emotion and personality, leaving an organic nature.
With how good the original track was, any remixer who answered the trio’s call needed to live up to it. Leave it to the duo of Hernán Cattaneo and Marcelo Vasami to, quite easily, live up to the difficult challenge. Heck, you could make the point that they exceeded past all expectations and made an equally fantastic masterpiece.
