The Legendary British DJs John Digweed & Nick Muir drop two remixes of the trio’s second single off their debut album

Island Hill knows how to make something truly spectacular out of a truly terrifying event, said event being Typhoon Lingling. Having met on the South Korean island of Jeju during a so-called “typhoon party”, the trio formed and started writing. ‘Strangers in Paradise‘ emerged three years later as the final product, via Bedrock Records, the label of DJ John Digweed. Digweed himself released music this year, having released remixes for the likes of Underworld and New Order with Nick Muir.

Recently, Digweed and Muir applied their remixing skills to ‘1000 Lives‘, the second single from Island Hill’s aforementioned debut album. Pummeling beats and glitchy synths get the track rolling, as well as a hard-hitting bassline to give the track power. Mind-expanding synths and near-hissing programming add to the atmosphere, preventing it from feeling too intense. The vocals, however, add an almost seductive feeling, making the listener want to hang on to every single alluring word.

Digweed and Muir also dropped a Dub remix of the track alongside the initial remix, which carries over most elements. The beat, glitchy synths, and bassline all remain, but melodic, wavering synths take the place of the vocals here. John Digweed and Nick Muir just know how to spot a good track when they hear it for themselves. And just like a jeweler, they know how to polish it and shape it until it becomes a well-made product.
