In an interview with Variety in 2021, The Weeknd acknowledged the significant influence that Daft Punk had on his music, stating that they were one of the reasons he pursued his musical career.
Daft Punk officially disbanded in 2016. In a recent interview with the BBC, Bangalter explained that his concerns about the impact of artificial intelligence extended beyond music creation. He likened the duo’s robotic personas to a long-lasting performance art piece by Marina Abramović, emphasizing that he wouldn’t want to be perceived as a robot in the current world.
Daft Punk’s music blended elements of house, techno, disco, and other electronic styles, creating a unique and recognizable sound that appealed to a wide audience. They achieved critical acclaim and commercial success with albums like “Homework” (1997), “Discovery” (2001), and “Random Access Memories” (2013).
The Weeknd’s history of collaborations includes working with prominent artists such as Drake, Future, Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs, and more recently, Travis Scott on the album ‘Utopia.’ The release date of The Weeknd’s “final feature,” ‘Another One Of Me,’ remains undisclosed, as well as the identity of the collaborator(s) on the track. His global tour continues until October 25, 2023.
