German Electronica trio GHEIST returns to Embassy One with ‘Who I Am’ EP which is sure to leave a shiver in listeners’ spines.

October arrives and, in some countries, that means spooky season, where ghosts, ghouls, and other creatures become recurring imagery. Germany certainly celebrates it these days and GHEIST appears to know how to get into the spirit in their way. Considered one of Germany’s top live acts, GHEIST continues to build on the success they achieved with February’s ‘Gravity’ EP. To achieve this, GHEIST released a new EP titled ‘Who I Am‘, which also sees them return to Embassy One.

‘Who I Am’, as an EP, turns out to be quite a reasonable fit given the opportunistic time of year. A stiff beat finds itself on every track alongside some level of eerie synth that ranges from gloomy to haunting. At the same time, vocals on each track maintain a consistent level of melancholy, further enhancing the EP’s chilling vibe. The lyrics give a sense that the narrator goes through periods of looking back and questioning themselves and their entire life. Overall, ‘Who I Am’ leaves a sense of gloom throughout the record bound to be perfect for a seasonal playlist.
