Chizawa Q Redefines the Tokyo Techno with a Cosmic Debut on R&S Records – ‘Xenoverse’

Any talk about the Japanese music scene won’t be complete without the mention of the famous Tokyo Techno scene. Japanese electro enthusiasts worldwide should brace themselves because Chizawa Q just released an ice-cold fresh album.

The Tokyo Bay-based DJ and producer released a new album ‘Xenoverse‘ with the powerhouse independent label R&S Records. The label is responsible for other brilliant rising artists such as James Blake, Blue Daisy, and Lone. For Chizawa, being on R&S Records which launched fellow bombastic Japanese artist Ken Ishii is a personal milestone.

This is Chizawa Q’s first album and fifth release after his last two singles, ‘Black Nebula‘ and ‘Beluga‘ last October. As Chizawa Q’s first album, Xenoverse sets a new foundation for his musical journey. The album was released on 22 November 2024 and consists of 10 titles, and lasts for 58 minutes. Xenoverse also includes the shining talents of Masaki Sakamoto, Kowalewski, Dan Samsa, and Makoto. The electronic album is rich and intricate in sounds, with elaborate mixes. Chizawa stated that the album serves as a soundtrack to a universe not yet born. Chizawa also likened the album to a sci-fi score stirring memories of a world we’ve never known.

When it comes to music, Chizawa stays deeply rooted in Japan. Yet, Chizawa still stands out with his fusions of jazz and abstract beat science for an immersive listening experience. Chizawa Q appeared on DJ Mag’s ‘8 Emerging Artists You Need to Hear‘ list in November. Chizawa is supported by big names such as Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, Josh Wink, Ben Sims, Dave Angel, Ramon Tapia, Dino Lenny, M.A.N.D.Y., CJ Bolland, and LTJ Bukem. Be a witness to Chizawa’s mastery of electronic music, and enjoy the new album here.
