German duo Dark Moon, consisting of Christian Stein and Tino Hufeld, continues their work under the Suncolours alias with “Memories,” a new single released via Breathe Music Flavour. Exploring a more progressive direction than their usual uplifting trance productions, the track combines melodic elements, atmospheric textures, and female vocals.

“Memories” opens with a warm progressive chord progression, a punchy kick drum, and organic noise textures before introducing the vocal line, “Do you remember, promise forever.” An atmospheric breakdown leads into open-filter synths, which return in the drop as the arrangement gradually develops. The result brings a more progressive approach to the duo’s sound while retaining a connection to their trance roots.

“Memories was inspired by the memory of people we are missing,” the duo explains. “We searched for an atmosphere that matches the feeling and a bridge to our trance side.” The emotional theme gives the track a different character from their earlier releases.

Stein and Hufeld have been active in electronic music since 1999, building a catalog of more than 40 releases and remixes. Their remix of Marc et Claude’s “I Need Your Lovin” reached high positions in several charts and became a fixture in classic DJ sets. In 2004, they founded Breathe Music and Darkmoon Music Publishing, releasing music alongside artists including André Visior and Talla 2XLC.

After taking a break in 2016, the duo relaunched Breathe Music in 2024, returning to electronic music with a renewed focus. Suncolours provides another outlet for that evolution, allowing the producers to explore progressive sounds under a different name.
