Sometimes, beats don’t need to be so condensed that you almost can’t tell what you’re listening to at certain times. In the universe of Electronic Dance Music, I believe very few producers or DJs understand that better than Alexi Delano. Born in Chile and raised in Sweden, Delano began making a name for himself in the 90s Techno scene in Sweden. Eventually, he moved to New York, where he continued to shape his music into its minimalistic Techno sound. Along the way, Delano racked up numerous accolades and released music on many established labels like Plus 8 and Visionquest.

Not long ago, Delano dropped his latest EP, ‘Secret Drones‘, containing three tracks ranging from his standard Techno to Tribal-esque. ‘No Show‘ starts off with a prominent bass groove and brisk cymbals, followed by spacey synth work and light, subtle beats. Overall, this is what most fans come to expect from Alexi. ‘Secret Drones’ follows a similar formula, with spacey synth work and brisk cymbals, but features a different beat and minimalistic basslines.

‘Work’, the final track, takes on the aforementioned Tribal Techno direction, primarily thanks to the beat on the track. Aside from that, a subtle bassline and minimal keys, along with a bouncy groove, present themselves throughout the whole track. Alexi Delano, after all these years, continues to produce superb deep Techno music that’s made for darkened dance floors. Yet, he never thinks that he’s done pushing his own boundaries, and we’re all the more thankful for that.
