The Game Awards were filled with plenty of exciting announcements this year, and not just the awards. Announcements made at The Game Awards featured upcoming releases that has left many fans clamouring for more. Like a band of warriors with their gaming controllers.

In this list below are the most interesting and exciting releases that were announced during The Game Awards 2024. There are no short trailers or announcements of titles that already exist but were quickly forgotten. Instead, this list only includes new titles coming soon, maybe even in 2025. You know, the kind of titles that we weren’t really expecting.

Ninja Gaiden Ragebound

It’s a ‘brand-new side-scrolling’ adventure for the fans of the more 2D hack-and-slash titles. From the same developers that brought gamers Blasphemous, The Game Kitchen kicks off The Game Awards with an impressive potential title. There is hope that the summer of 2025 will reveal the true nature and character of this game. But that is a summer that we will all look forward to.

One Move Away

For those of us who prefer a more comfortable and cosy title, One Move Away might be what you are looking for. With low poly graphics, but a simple visual design, One Move Away inspires a sense of peace and tranquillity in one of the most stressful experiences of life: moving day. Much like Unpacking (2021), One Move Away makes the most mundane and stressful tasks of life, a delightful puzzle game that invokes a sense of calm that would never arise in reality. This is certainly one of the announcements made at The Game Awards that made me giddy with excitement.

Slay the Spire 2

Only coming to Early Access in 2025, Slay the Spire 2 was already a known title. However, the announcements made at The Game Awards finally gave players something they had been hoping for, with a trailer that gave them a more in-depth look at the potential gameplay. This sequel to the popular roguelike deckbuilding title, Slay the Spire 2 hints at four possible character types, and a huge amount of awesome looking combat sequences. Make sure to keep your eye on this one.

Thick as Thieves

OtherSide Entertainment has finally revealed its first game: Thick as Thieves. With a new take on stealth in a heist-based environment, Thick as Thieves provides a thrilling experience for all players. The trailer shows a multiplayer system in which each player battles it out to steal the valuable items first, always needing to be one step ahead of the others. However, players will have to be patient to see this title, as it is expected to arrive on PC and consoles as early as 2026. This is one of those announcements made at The Game Awards that players are going to need to be just that bit more patient for.

Shadow Labyrinth

Classic and iconic character, PAC-MAN is getting an upgrade. Now starring as PUCK in the new and dark 2D platformer, Shadow Labyrinth, this game hopes to be a genre-twisting experience as an alternative take on PAC-MAN. With interesting game mechanics shown in the trailer, but little revelation about the gameplay itself, there is much intrigue about this title as it looms over the horizon of 2025.

Kyora

The Creators of Core Keeper are bringing gamers their latest title in the form of a cute, pixel sandbox called Kyora. Not a lot is revealed to us in the short trailer, but it is certain to be a wonderful experience bringing to mind that of Terraria. Looking on the Steam page reveals that it is to have a procedurally generated world with up to eight players joining in online co-op.

Solasta 2

Those of you who have been waiting for the sequel to massively popular RPG Solasta: Crown of the Magister will need not wait any longer. Its sequel has finally been confirmed for Early Access in 2025, with a demo shortly on the way. Those in love with fantasy and the mechanics of D&D might find themselves falling in love with this delightful RPG sequel.

The Witcher 4

Finally, the next game in the Witcher series has been revealed, and even better, it possibly features Ciri as our protagonist. This was probably the most intriguing out of all the announcements made at The Game Awards. I mean, it’s another Witcher game! After years of playing as Geralt, it seems as though he is putting his swords away and passing the mantle over to a younger face. One that we met in The Witcher 3. Now, Ciri will be our protagonist, marching through the unforgiving world of monsters and people, trying to answer the question of who is the real monster.

Elden Ring: Nightreign

FromSoftware cannot stop milking their golden udders, that is their Elden Ring. It was perfection, and fans keep clamouring for more. Thus, FromSoftware has listened. Described as a standalone game, Elden Ring: Nightreign hopes to become a multiplayer survival game, as per Geoff Keighley after the trailer was announced. All players need to know is it will be more of the game that they loved.

Outer Worlds 2

Mixed opinions about the first game, Outer Worlds, this sequel hopes to polish off everything that it missed in its previous games. Instead, it boasts more weapons, action, and graphics. Although, at this stage, it is too ambitious to say. Hopefully coming to PC and consoles in 2025, let’s leave the opinions of its possible improvements to the masses.

Split Fiction

From the creators who gave us, It Takes Two, they are bringing us another co-op action adventure. Split Fiction will be as reliant on co-op as It Takes Two, with each character having their own special weapons and abilities. Thus, these characters will need to rely on one another to survive their adventures. Don’t worry though, you and your co-op buddies will not have to wait too long as it is due to arrive in March 2025.

Steel Hunters

Coming from World of Tanks studio, Steel Hunters poses to be a game with heaps of fun and even more robots. As well as many big explosions. Players will be put into seven units in teams of two. Then, you will be marching and flying across beautiful green worlds. Steel Hunters will be a free-to-play shooter, and is currently in a ten-day beta. (13/12 – 23/12).

Splitgate 2

Coming as a sequel to the first Splitgate in 2019, this new portal, FPS is beginning development in 2025. The trailer offers some insights on what the gameplay might become, but other than this, very little is available.

Project Century

Although this game may look like it has connections with Like A Dragon, nothing has been claimed recently to say that it does. However, from the looks of things, it may be playing with similar territory. Set in 1915(-ish) Japan, there are plenty of punching’s to be had.

Warframe 1999

The Warframe alpha had finally been made into a full game after so many years. The game itself has never looked better, and with so many different environments and enemies, it is sure to be a big hit. Now released on Steam, it’s time to get playing!

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Being as mysterious as ever, Capcom released a cinematic trailer for their upcoming title Onimusha. With plenty of combat to look forward to, 2026 can’t come soon enough for this title.

The First Berserker: Khazan

They can’t get enough of their cinematic trailers, and The First Berserker is no different. This dark fantasy RPG is set to be released in March 2025, and although there isn’t much to be seen of actual gameplay, there is hope.

Dying Light: The Beast

A standalone Dying Light adventure, this title was first spoke of at Gamescom in August. Now, there is a chance of an actual release somewhere on the horizon. So, watch out for Summer 2025, when players will finally get their chance to play as angry Kyle Crane and his ‘beast-like’ abilities.

Stage Fright

From the makers of Overcooked, comes a new title featuring the very familiar co-op adventure gameplay. From the trailer, this new title looks as though it is going to be a delightful game, with all the split screen chaos that will erupt from every co-op adventure.

Mafia: The Old Country

An intense and riveting look at Mafia: The Old Country tells us that this is certainly a game to look forward to in the future. This rough looking title is coming to gamers in summer 2025, and things are only going to get hotter as the epic titles for next year keep rising.

Dispatch

For those who aren’t really into the intense and gritty world of Mafia, there is something softer and more cartoony. Dispatch is an upcoming animated superhero game to fight crime and bad guys. The studio behind this title brought us other impressive titles like Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us. This is certainly one to be intrigued by, and with no release date yet, definitely one to keep your eye out for.

Okami Sequel

Although this title might be a few years in the future, many fans would have been almost bursting through the ceilings at this announcement. It has been too long since we’ve seen a new Okami title, and with this sequel, it is sure that it will be happening in the future. However, with no release date yet, let’s not get our hopes up.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophecy

Naughty Dog is a truly amazing studio, having brought us games like The Last of Us and Uncharted. However, this time, the studio is going somewhere new. With bounty hunters in space, and an awesome laser sword for battling enemies, Intergalactic is a title people will be hoping miracles from. The cinematic trailer shows us an impressive and spectacular view at this potential title. Let’s hope these guys don’t let us down!
