Sydney-based producer fuses electronica, breaks, and tech-house in ‘We Ain’t Like Dem’.

This week marks the return of Australian producer Arky Waters with a catchy new tune, ‘We Ain’t Like Dem.’ This track features a powerful blend of electronica, breaks, and techno-house rhythms, showcasing Waters’ unique approach to production. Reflecting on the creation process, Arky Waters shares – This is a little track I had sitting on my hard drive for a while. I made it really quickly and always wanted to take it further, but every time I pushed it in a different direction, it lost its essence. My friends suggested releasing it as I made it, super stripped back. Sometimes simple really is best.

Arky Waters, whose real name is Thomson Phan, merges his early love for indie/folk with the electronic textures of rave music. Initially an outlet from his work with the alt-rock band Silvers, the project began in 2020 and quickly grew into its own entity as Phan delved deeper into production. His songs serve as a soundtrack to his life growing up in suburban Australia, bridging the gap between indie/folk songwriting and the pulsating beats of electronic music.

Following the success of his April release, the four-track EP ‘Bumper,’ Arky Waters is back with a new single. ‘We Ain’t Like Dem’ marks the first taste of a new EP set to drop later this year. With significant praise from music fans and curators, his last EP garnered attention worldwide. Listeners can anticipate a wave of fresh music from Arky Waters in the coming months. ‘We Ain’t Like Dem’ is available everywhere now via Mammal Sounds Records.
