Mexico-based producer and DJ Boom Merchant delivers his final release of the year with the Transpacific EP, out last Friday on his imprint Tribal Pulse. The four-track project showcases what he describes as his signature sound: high-energy electronic music built on “chunk, funk, nostalgia and futurism in equal measure.”

The EP was written in Tokyo, where the Irish-born artist traveled to perform. Now based in Mexico City, Boom Merchant has played shows across more than 10 countries, including Japan, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and his native Ireland.

The new release has already earned support from Jam & Spoon, Paco Osuna, and others.

Reflecting on the creative process, he says, “I took my MPC with me and on four days I worked on four rhythms in different parts of the city, and beyond.”
