Paul Davis is a name that might not readily trip off the tongue these days, but dial back 15 years and his Circulation project (alongside erstwhile partner Matt Jackson) was a hugely successful, internationally touring, electronic act responsible for an iconic series of colour-related dancefloor bangers, from Green right through to Opal – their final act as a duo, in 2005.

Walking away from the project for several years, the inevitable pull of his love for music – plus some forced time off thanks to a global pandemic and a broken shoulder – has seen a recent return to electronic music for Davis, who is gingerly taking steps back into the musical life he once abandoned.

Returning to the fray with his critically acclaimed ‘Space Dance‘ EP on Argentinian label Electronic Groove in October 2020 – a record which was followed up by a host of subsequent releases on his Recirculation imprint – Davis is now back to his prolific music-making self, as he unveils his eagerly anticipated four-track solo offering on Bedrock with ‘Funk Chunk’ EP.

Circulation has a huge discography steeped in the history of deep house music with some classic releases and remixes over the years. After featuring one of their tracks on my Live In London Mix and another on my latest Quattro III album, it’s great to get Paul involved on an official solo release on the label.
