Aslice, founded by DVS1 to promote fairer payments for producers. It has teamed up with various clubs, promoters, and festivals worldwide for a new initiative named Support the Sound. This collective aims to highlight the gap between the increasing fees for DJs and the revenue generated by the producers.

Support The Sound collective encourages DJs to submit their set lists to Aslice, along with a percentage of their fee. It will be divided among the producers whose music was played. For instance, if a DJ is paid £10,000, plays 30 tracks, and contributes 10% of their fee to Aslice, each producer would receive £33.

Speaking about Support the Sound, DJ, and producer DVS1, also known as Zak Khutoretsky, emphasized the importance of community. It states that,

Since we launched Aslice in March 2022, we have always emphasized the value of community. Support The Sound plans to embrace a culture of sharing, which resonates deeply with the values of our service. Why wouldn’t we support the Sound? Our industry would be nothing without the music.

Zak Khutoretsky

Aslice was established in 2022 to address the lack of payments made by PROs to producers. It was stemming from issues such as missing metadata, insufficient reporting, and fraudulent submissions. In 2019, it was estimated that £100m in royalties per year was lost or incorrectly allocated to producers due to these payment discrepancies.
