El Silencio, a famous beachside restaurant and bar focusing on the creative arts, has announced the opening of Urusai Sunset Bar, the island’s first dedicated audiophile listening venue. Launched earlier this summer, Urusai promises something new with vinyl-only DJ sets, deep listening rituals, and a focus on communal connection.
The venue is inspired by the Japanese jazz kissa tradition, where the focus is not conversation or coffee but immersive listening to jazz records. It is also inspired, of course, by Ibiza’s free-spirited legacy. Tied together, the space is designed to elevate every perfect Ibiza sunset into a ceremony, making it a dreamy place for guests to slow down.
Programming is led by Jaime Fiorito, son of Balearic music pioneer DJ Alfredo, and features a rotating lineup of global selectors. With his vision, visitors can expect carefully sourced records spanning decades and genres, including Japanese jazz, soul, disco, afro-boogie, and Balearic classics. Every session is set to deliver studio-level clarity through Baltic birch speakers and a hybrid analog-digital mixer.
The space was designed by Kulapat Yantrasast (WHY Architecture), a protégé of Tadao Ando. Visually, it’s best described as minimalist, yet it is anchored by a vortex-like sculptural centerpiece. There are also subtle nods to traditional tea houses and contemporary sanctuaries, further focusing on connection.
The culinary experience is also notable as Urusai Izakaya is led by chefs Taku Yuji Mikurya and Romain Littière. Together, they mix Japanese culinary traditions with Ibizan terroir. Menu highlights include toro sando, red prawn soba, and crispy rice with local vegetables, paired with natural wines, small-batch sake, and cocktails like lychee martinis and wasabi margaritas.
