Belgium-based producer EMJIE has joined forces with Paris-based DJ and producer Emma B for their new three-track EP Ace of Spades, released on Oct. 31 via German imprint Exploited Club.
The EP — described as a blend of groove, energy, and panache — marks a creative meeting point between two rising artists in Europe’s underground electronic scene.
EMJIE began producing music around 2020 after first learning to DJ in 2019, drawn to the process of shaping sound through analog gear like the TR-8S, Minilogue XD, and Behringer Crave.
She recalls meeting Emma B on social media a few years ago before the two decided to collaborate in person. “We wanted to spend some time in the studio to explore our universes and have fun together,” says EMJIE. “The tracks were born in two days, and we did the finishing touches later on.”
After completing the project, the duo debuted the new music live during a pair of back-to-back sets. “It was the cherry on the cake to see people vibing to the EP that kind of started our friendship,” EMJIE adds.
On the creative direction behind the title track, she explains, “Emma and I both wanted to capture a timeless groove that feels nostalgic with a modern twist — blending classic house rhythms and shuffling hi-hats with modern textures and synth layers while keeping it retro with the M1 as a prominent lead.”
