Medellín-based producer and DJ Emmanuel Callejas, Venezuelan producer NOTHANKYOU, and Miami’s IT’S KING JULIAN have teamed up for “Bawineo,” a collaborative track featuring Brazilian vocalist MC GW. The single was released on Oct. 24 via Sunday and One Seven Music.
The collaboration emerged from a shared interest in blending Latin American rhythms with electronic production. Created remotely between Miami, Colombia, and Brazil, the trio exchanged ideas and held multiple online sessions to refine the bassline, arrangement, and overall sound.
MC GW later joined the project, contributing vocals inspired by Brazilian funk.
“It was a truly global collaboration — each of us added our own flavor while keeping the vibe raw, hypnotic, and underground,” says NOTHANKYOU.
IT’S KING JULIAN recalls how the collaboration came together naturally through their shared work and friendship. “We met while working on tour and instantly clicked — the whole project started on Zoom between Miami and Colombia and just grew from there,” he says.
Callejas describes “Bawineo” as a meeting point of different cultures and sounds within Medellín’s evolving electronic scene.
“We wanted ‘Bawineo’ to sound global yet raw — to connect the tribal groove of Latin America with a European club perspective,” he explains.
Looking ahead, IT’S KING JULIAN says he recently launched his new label and collective, MUV IT, with plans for more music and events later this year.
