The title of this record couldn’t be more accurate; KAYTRANADA named it ‘TIMELESS’, and it quite literally is.

KAYTRANADA’s third studio album, ‘TIMELESS‘, released on June 7, 2024, brings his signature vibrant energy with a masterful blend of R&B and hip-hop, featuring several notable artists. Despite announcing the album on May 22, KAYTRANADA collaborated with Rochelle Jordan and Channel Tres to release the EP ‘Lover/Friend‘ in November 2023, which included tracks featured on this album. Just three days before the album’s release, the vibe track ‘Drip Sweat’ was dropped, giving a sneak peek of what to expect.

TIMELESS exceeds high expectations with its impressive production, features, and visual elements. KAYTRANADA’s incredible musical knowledge shines through his curation of features, including Anderson .Paak, SiR, Don Toliver, PinkPantheress, Thundercat, Mariah the Scientist, and Childish Gambino. Each artist complements the summer vibes perfectly, with standout tracks like Gambino’s ‘Witchy‘, ‘Weird‘ with Durand Bernarr, and ‘Still‘ with Charlotte Day Wilson. Other noteworthy collaborations include Ravyn Lenae, Tinashe, and Dawn Richard.

Despite some criticism about the album’s length, it remains cohesive, with KAYTRANADA’s production taking center stage. The diverse mix of electronic/house, R&B, hip-hop, and other sounds ensures there’s something for everyone, maintaining a full listening experience with minimal skips. While innovation might be lacking compared to previous projects, the album’s quality and enjoyability are undeniable.

Though TIMELESS doesn’t introduce groundbreaking new elements, it still stands as one of the top releases of the year. KAYTRANADA could benefit from a collaborative project similar to ‘KAYTRAMINÉ‘, perhaps with Tyler, The Creator, for future releases.

Overall, TIMELESS is a must-listen, adding essential tracks to any summer playlist. Take a listen:
