Techno dynamo, Mha Iri kicks off four-part elements series with Earth-inspired EP, Leader of the Pack, out now via [PIAS] Électronique.
Scotland’s techno sensation Mha Iri released her new EP, Leader of the Pack, today on [PIAS] Électronique. This project marks the beginning of an ambitious four-EP series inspired by the elements—Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. The three-track EP represents Earth, showcasing a bold statement of her new artistic chapter. The title track is already a favourite among Mixmag, DJ Mag, SiriusXM, and Jaguar on BBC Introducing Dance. It cements her reputation as a major force in the global techno scene.
The release follows an electrifying Australian tour, including sets at Eat The Beat Festival with Carl Cox. This, along with her recent releases, earned her Beatport‘s #1 Hard Techno female artist title. She has also become a significant presence in Peak Time/Driving Techno charts.
The Elemental Series
Back to the elemental series, Mha Iri states that her love of nature, along with her Scottish and Gaelic heritage, served as inspiration – The elements offer endless creative interpretation, allowing me to express different aspects of myself as an artist. This is also further accomplished with the artwork, which features a stunning amethyst crystal cave discovered in Scotland.
Being the representation of the element Earth, everything about Leader of the Pack screams strength and authority, with each track in this EP offering a distinctive take on High-Octane Techno.
Starting with the single and titled track, ‘Leader of the Pac’. A song that blends relentless beats, hoover synths, and dark, dynamic spoken lyrics with doppler effects and soaring, creating a no-holds-barred dancefloor anthem. ‘Go Hard’ comes next and lives up to its name, delivering pounding percussion, distorted stutters, and hooks from sudden drops. Meanwhile, ‘Give You’ with Argy (UK) juxtaposes melodic riffs with raw metallic stabs, pushing the energy into overdrive.
Overall, this is a very ‘feet on the ground’ EP that sets this series to success. Being inspired by her roots is a terrific way to start this, and being such an easy listen makes fans crave for what’s to come.
