Mobile Games Impacted by the ‘TikTok’ Ban in America

How the TikTok Ban is Shaping the Future of Mobile Gaming in the U.S.

Published on

The nationwide ban on the popular video streaming software, TikTok, has recently heavily impacted America. Unfortunately, the popular video streaming app wasn’t the only app affected. Many mobile games have fallen victim to the so-called ‘TikTok’ ban.

The Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act aims to protect the United States. Mainly from any threats posed by foreign-controlled applications or services developed by ByteDance Ltd.

This bill bans TikTok and applies to all foreign-controlled applications, including mobile games, not just those developed by ByteDance. Therefore, this ban affected quite a few mobile games in America.

Here is a list 7 of those affected titles:

1. Marvel Snap

Featuring a collection of classic Marvel characters, Marvel Snap is a digital collectible card game. It was developed by Second Dinner for Android, iOS, and Windows.

2. One Punch Man – The Strongest

This mobile game is a turn-based RPG based upon and authorized by the great Japanese anime, ONE PUNCH MAN. One Punch Man is available on Android and iOS.

3. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Mobile Legends was developed and published by Chinese developer Moonton, a subsidiary of ByteDance. It is a mobile multiplayer battle arena game. Released in 2016, and grew in popularity, primarily in Southeast Asia.

4. Watcher of Realms

Described as a next-gen fantasy RPG, Watcher of Realms is a strategy RPG available for Android, iOS, and Windows.

5. Magic Rush: Heroes

A thrilling, real-time PvP multiplayer. Magic Rush: Heroes has exciting multiplayer World Map battles, various Tower Defense battles, and much more. Available for Android and iOS.

6. Land of Empires: Dice Hero

Summoned by gods, the legendary warriors have returned to fight the demons. Roll the dice and recruit some truly fearless heroes. Fight and create great armies. It’s time to determine the fate of humanity. Land of Empires is available on Android.

7. Mission EVO

Primarily a survival game inspired by titles like Rust, Mission EVO puts your survival skills to the test. Build various bases and team up with other characters in a desperate attempt to overcome the dangers of this virtual world. Available on Android.

After the ban took effect, officials lifted it, allowing consumers to access the app again. This suggests that TikTok may avoid the ban. However, it remains uncertain whether authorities will protect all of these apps. If lawmakers suspend the bill for all applications, not just TikTok, there is a chance that players will be able to log back in.

At the moment, TikTok seems to be the primary app on people’s minds when it comes to banning. Therefore, it is unlikely that these mobile games will be restored.
