Pale Blue, an electronic band, is back on Damian Lazarus’ label Crosstown Rebels.

The song ‘Dive‘ is from the duo’s upcoming album on the imprint, which will be released in 2023. The EP includes remixes by Fort Romeau and Rebolledo, which give the shoegaze-influenced song another level. Elizabeth’s gentle vocals and a dreamy synthline in the title track’s opening seconds create a foggy but powerful ambience. The Oxfordshire native provides a Tranceadelic Mix of the song on Fort Romeau’s remix, fusing subdued basslines with drumming that has a hint of tribalism so that Elizabeth’s lyrics may take center stage. Elizabeth’s vocals are altered by Rebolledo to an alien-like pitch while writing an acidic melody that is ideal for a stoned listen.

Dive’ is a breakup song. It’s about when the person you are living with becomes a stranger. Musically, ‘Dive’ is an experiment in polyrhythms and textures; the music has a lot of movement, yet Elizabeth’s vocals are stoic throughout. The music represents the chaos of the relationship, and her voice is the calm realization of self.
