German house music figure Philipp Jung has died at the age of 55. The news was confirmed by a source close to the artist, with no cause of death disclosed at the time of writing.

Jung was best known as one half of the influential DJ and production duo M.A.N.D.Y. alongside Patrick Bodmer, as well as a co-founder of the pioneering label Get Physical Music, which he launched in 2002 with DJ T. and Booka Shade.

Before stepping into the artist spotlight, Jung worked in A&R roles during the 1990s, helping develop his reputation for identifying forward-thinking electronic talent. With the formation of Get Physical Music in Berlin, he became part of a movement that helped define the global rise of melodic, groove-driven house and tech-house.

The label quickly became one of the most influential imprints in electronic music, earning recognition as DJ Mag’s Label of the Year in 2005 following the success of M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade’s “Body Language,” a defining track of the era. Jung also played a key role in shaping the label’s broader identity through its “Body Language” compilation series and its sister imprint Kindisch, which focused on deeper, more experimental sounds.

As M.A.N.D.Y., Jung and Bodmer helped define the mid-2000s club landscape with releases that blended melodic warmth and rhythmic precision, becoming fixtures in clubs and festivals worldwide.

In later years, Jung remained active through curation and label work, including Get Physical’s retrospective projects such as Rewind Forward Vol. 1, which highlighted key moments from the label’s catalogue. He also founded Metaphysical, an imprint focused on more exploratory and album-driven releases.

Following the news, tributes have begun to pour in from across the electronic music community, reflecting on Jung’s lasting impact as a DJ, curator, and label founder who helped shape a defining era of house music. He is remembered as a key creative force behind one of the most influential labels in modern electronic music history.

We extend our deepest condolences to Philipp Jung’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.
