Los Angeles-based electronic music duo Dance Spirit is set to release their four-track EP ACTIVATION next week, October 26, via their record label 交感 [Koukan]. Today, we are premiering “SERAPHIM,” offering an exclusive first listen below.

Following their long-awaited sophomore album Lunatic, the EP blends unfinished older material with newer ideas.

Dance Spirit, comprising Christopher Mohn and Reagan Denius, have built their sound around melodic electronic music, progressive grooves, and live musicianship. After a six-year break, the duo returned with “Tranquilized & Hypnotized,” opening a new chapter in their creative journey through Koukan, a home for their music, visual work, and wider artistic universe.

“SERAPHIM” explores a more experimental side of the duo’s sound, pairing a distorted kick drum with glitchy vocal textures, crisp hats, and noisy percussion that keeps the rhythm in motion. A filtered, sequenced chord gradually enters, adding another layer to the evolving arrangement. Around the five-minute mark, deep vocal elements merge with lush chords, building tension before the track moves toward its next powerful drop.

Speaking about the EP, the duo describe “SERAPHIM” as a track shaped by experimentation, with live vocal sampling and hands-on manipulation of their Elektron Machinedrum helping guide its sound.

The four tracks form a loose narrative arc of activation, vision, disruption, and recovery, expanding the evolving mythology of Dance Spirit’s Illuminaria universe.

ACTIVATION is out October 26 via 交感 [Koukan]. Pre-order the release here, and enjoy an exclusive first listen below.
