American artist Sam WOLFE drops a new EP ‘ Machine Driven’ on UMEK’s label, 1605, that feels like classic Techno at its finest.
Label loyalty knows no bounds as numerous artists on numerous labels seem to be so intertwined, they almost never leave. In EDM, more specifically Techno, someone like Sam WOLFE knows that very well and unknowingly wears that badge quite proudly. The American DJ put out numerous releases on labels like Tronic and Senso Sounds, but mostly through UMEK’s label, 1605. WOLFE has released several EPs and made nine appearances on the label, the latest being his new EP ‘Machine Driven‘.
Firstly, ‘Machine Driven’, the title track, opens up with a deep, warbling bassline and sandy, yet prominent beats and percussion. Cyber-esque, brassy synths give the track a euphoric, hypnotic feeling that makes for a very alluring track for nighttime listening. ‘Hold On‘ follows that track up, starting with a wavering bassline that feels like you took a hit of acid. The beat then crescendoes in and vocals, courtesy of Turquoise Music, come after, profound and fervent, adding to the atmosphere. Cyber-esque synths and even piano keys add a bit more of an organic feeling to the otherwise heavily electronic music.
Sam WOLFE proved why being on 1605 is like being home and being loyal to a close friend or family. At the same time, ‘Machine Driven’ proves that he still has a place in Techno and probably will for years.
