American-born producer and DJ Stefan Rose delivers a dose of deep, emotional club energy with his new two-track EP This Feeling, out July 18 via Nihil Young’s Frequenza imprint.
Rose, who first began producing and DJing while studying in Belgium, now calls London home — though he still considers New York City his “adopted home.” Growing up surrounded by electronic music fueled his early obsession with house and techno, a passion that still drives his sound today.
The title track blends a progressive bassline, Sophie Joe’s hypnotic vocals, and a soaring, melodic lift. Second cut “Tusk” swaps vocals for organic drums, dynamic texture, and a looping, addictive motif — proof that lyrics aren’t always necessary to make a track hit.
Rose and Joe first connected a year ago during a gig in East London. “We started having a nice chat in the DJ booth and realized that our music tastes were very similar,” Rose says. Their chemistry carried into the studio, where Joe laid down vocals for This Feeling in a single day. “From the very first take, things really clicked,” Rose recalls.
With past tour stops across Southeast Asia, Europe, the U.S., and Africa, Rose is now gearing up for more shows and fresh releases on the horizon.
