After a long hiatus veteran house and techno producer, Deetron returns to Hot Creations. The Glass EP is his first release on the label since a remix of PBR Streetgang in 2012, and it continues a stellar 2022 for the Character label-head.

For more than two decades, Deetron has been a mainstay of contemporary house and techno. In recent years, the well-known DJ and producer has released music on several of the industry’s top labels, including Gerd Janson’s Running Back and Jeff Mills‘ famous Axis Records. Add in collaborations with Jamiroquai, Honey Dijon, and José Padilla, as well as a career that dates back to the late 1990s, and it’s easy to see how Deetron has established a really global presence in the scene.

Fast-paced hats coexist with resonant kicks throughout Glass, which is a piano-fueled peak-time cut. It’s peppy and danceable all at once, with Chicago-style house tones highlighting the Swiss artist’s musical experience. Come On Back is a similarly soulful track, with disco-style vocals and echoing pads creating a feel-good, club-ready track. The EP includes instrumental versions of both tracks, each of which offers a more stripped-down take on the proceedings.

First and foremost, the tracks are effective DJ-Tools for the dancefloor so basically the inspiration was wanting to make people dance. Both tracks were made/finalised when all dancefloors were shut due to the pandemic so I reckon the desire to return to the clubs can be heard in the tunes as well.
