The last twelve months have been nothing short of a whirlwind ride for WhoMadeWho. Reflecting on one the most prolific years in their esteemed history – a year which has seen them drop their critically acclaimed studio album UUUU and wrap their most intensive world tour to date – the globally sought-after Danish live act now looks to conclude 2022 in style, as they commission Patrice Bäumel to deliver one of the biggest remixes of the year.

No strangers to one another, following the release of their debut collaboration Nefertari on Cercle Records in 2021, the WhoMadeWhoBäumel combination is tried and tested, to say the least. With Bäumel now on official remix duties, this latest record sees the world-renowned Dutch producer breathe a vibrant club energy into one of the standout singles from WhoMadeWho’s latest album, as he reimagines the inimitable Never Alone.

True to reputation, Bäumel’s remix is a masterclass from the off. Manipulating Tomas Hoffding’s withdrawn vocals across the latter half of the nine-minute cut, the Dutchman’s heady amalgam of rhythmic drum patterns and textured synths is utterly compelling, as he concocts a spine-tingling house track that delivers from the very first kickdrum. Propelled by deep basslines and dynamic synth lines, Patrice’s remix brings the whimsical original to the depths of the dancefloor, as he adds to his expansive catalogue with yet another majestic, peak-time masterpiece.

We were imagining a phrase and a melody that would – in an ultimate way – connect us to the crowd at our shows. A slogan that would make the crowd feel awesome about themselves, their friends, and the whole situation. We were walking home from a studio session over a local bridge called Dybbølsbro when the entire thing just came to Høffding all at once. He ran home and made a raw demo that evolved into the version you know from the album. But honestly, it only ever really took off when we got this amazing remix from Patrice Bäumel. He made the song fly, and it’s now one of the highlights of our shows!

With Barfod’s penchant for electronic music poetically juxtaposed with Høffding and Kjellberg’s respective backgrounds in rock and jazz, their music is an electrifying combination of sounds, merging a variety of influences to produce a unique sonic fingerprint that is emotive, irresistible and immensely satisfying.
