Following the success of The Shadow Self II in December, which featured Terr and Echonomist as remixers, Berlin’s Yeah But No released The Shadow Self III on Distant Echos.

Keep Running, the lead track follows up where Run Run Run left off, the duo’s 2019 release that was remixed by Keinemusik mainstay Adam Port. Keep Running is a wonderfully lovely track, with sad vocal performances that leave us in a dazed state of contemplation. Percussive elements gradually rise, creating a staggered, slow-building rhythm that complements the title track’s moving character. The track is then followed by an acoustic version, which emphasizes Keep Running’s organic character even more, before Ivory’s Euphoria Mix, which has hard-hitting kick-hat pairs and a more dancefloor-inspired edge.

With Keep Running, we tell the story of a lost person – in pursuit of social perfection, a life full of constraints and walls – far away from real desires. The only thing that remains is the escape from the self, through an endless labyrinth of wrong decisions. The lyrics continue on from Run Run Run, relating to an inner demon that makes us run away from situations we should really confront.
