Costa Rican producer Dani Navarrete joins forces with U.S.-based producer Richard Rozen for their new single “Punk Jaz,” due April 24 via Expmental Records. The track appears as part of the label’s VA series Mental Picks Vol. 51. Today, we are premiering one of its highlights, “Punk Jaz,” offering an exclusive first listen below.
Richard Rozen, who has been active in the scene for over a decade, has built a solid reputation with releases on labels such as Nervous Records, Bassel Faith, and Logistic Records, while also sharing stages with artists like Anthony Collins, YouandME, and Claude VonStroke.
“Punk Jaz” marks the duo’s second collaboration, following their recent EP Life with Mountains, released last month.
Built around a minimal house framework, “Punk Jaz” features a tight, punchy kick drum layered with toms and crisp hi-hats. Dreamy, retro chords gradually emerge alongside a supportive bassline, resulting in a smooth, groove-led track tailored for minimal house enthusiasts.
“Mental Picks Vol. 51” is out April 24. Pre-order the release here, and enjoy an exclusive first listen below.
