Nottingham-based producer Russian Linesman is set to release his new album Remember When We Were Thriving this Friday, August 21, via his own Loki Recordings. Today, we are premiering one of its highlights, “Imbala,” offering an exclusive first listen below.

With more than two decades of music-making behind him, Russian Linesman has released on labels including MUTE, Cinematique, Re:Vibe Audio, and Manual Music, while much of his work has appeared on Loki Recordings. His latest album marks another chapter in a career built around capturing feelings and emotions through sound.

Remember When We Were Thriving grew from fragments, memories, observations, and abandoned archives collected over the years. Blending melodic electronica, found sounds, breakbeats, and cinematic textures, the album explores themes of memory, identity, change, and the stories we tell ourselves.

“Imbala” unfolds through spacious ambient soundscapes, delicate percussion, pulsating synths, and a steady bassline. The arrangement gradually develops through subtle layers and shifting textures, creating an immersive atmosphere that feels both organic and cinematic.

Remember When We Were Thriving is out August 21 via Loki Recordings. Pre-order the release here, and enjoy an exclusive first listen below.
