Valiant Kings and Hedbergen, featuring the vocals of David McKellar, team up for “Echoes of Belfast,” a fresh take on Simple Minds’ classic “Belfast Child,” with L.A. Dysto stepping in for remix duties. Today, we are premiering the L.A. Dysto Remix, offering an exclusive first listen below.
Ibiza-based Valiant Kings is the project of UK-born DJ and producer Aaron French, while fellow Ibiza resident Hedbergen brings years of experience from the island’s club scene. Glasgow-based vocalist David McKellar completes the collaboration, recently performing as support for Oasis at their Edinburgh shows.
L.A. Dysto is the collaborative project featuring Warriors of the Dystotheque’s Jonny Mac and Steven Reid, alongside producer and engineer Shay Whelan and Theo Suess. Their sound explores slower, low-slung electronic styles spanning indie dance, dark disco, acid, and weird and wonky electronica, with basslines and grooves at the center.
The L.A. Dysto Remix takes “Echoes of Belfast” into a slower and more hypnotic territory. Dubby kick drums establish the foundation while blippy synths, delayed guitar textures, and a strong rolling rhythm create a hazy indie dance atmosphere. Keeping David McKellar’s vocals prominent, the remix balances the organic and electronic elements with a loose, late-night groove.
“Echoes of Belfast” featuring the L.A. Dysto Remix is out August 24 via ASTIR Recordings. Pre-order the release here, and enjoy an exclusive first listen below.
