As they dropped a new release ‘Lost In Paradise’ on Hot Creations, Italian artists Francesco Parente and Josh Kalker joined to chat with us.
Francesco Parente began producing at the age of sixteen and quickly gained backing from some of the underground’s most well-known musicians, including Nicole Moudaber and Marco Carola. Francesco began playing in well-known clubs in his region in 2017, followed by worldwide bookings and backing from his mentor Loco Dice, which led to releases on Rawtentic, CUFF, and HOTTRAX labels.
Josh Kalker’s music is influenced by 90s house and techno. Josh has had the opportunity to release music on labels such as La Pera Records, Nervous, Lost, Roush, Safe, Cryminal Hype, and many others since working full-time in the studio and DJing in Europe. Marco Carola, Loco Dice, Wade, and Michael Bibi are among the artists who promote his work.
Hello guys, thank you for joining us today. How are you doing?
Hi! We are feeling great, thank you. We are very excited to be doing this.
Congratulations on your new release ‘Lost In Paradise’ that landed today on Hot Creations. How did it get picked by label boss Jamie Jones?
Thank you very much! We couldn’t be happier. Lost In Paradise was created specifically for Hot Creations. We wanted to make a track that had a very fresh vibe in order for the audience to feel good.
What’s your connection with David Blank?
Last summer we were on holiday in Apulia, in the south of Italy, where we often spend our vacations and one night we heard him singing in a very popular club. We immediately fell in love with his voice! So, we decided to introduce him to our project and without a second thought he was in! We were very happy!
‘Lost In Paradise’ also got remix treatment by UK producer Wheats. How do you guys feel when another artist remixes your track?
When they told us that Wheats was gonna make the remix we were so thrilled. We follow his projects and his career, so for us it is a real privilege.
What is the most needed element in a record for you?
Our way of working together leads us first of all to set up a bassline with care according to the mood we want to recreate, then it is very important to create a groove that can fit/blend with it. The vibrations of a vocal are definitely a necessary part of the creation of a song that can be dynamic and that can reach a wider audience, so it is definitely one of those elements that we struggle to do without. Finally, sound design and the search for new sounds is absolutely another ingredient that we consider indispensable in order to obtain a quality product.
How do you come up with new tracks? Do you need a strong idea or jam till you get an enjoyable output?
Let’s say that we mainly start a project thinking about what we want to achieve. In short, we really have clear ideas on this point of view. We think it has to rock! That’s for sure. When we start to draft an initial idea of groove and we get to the point that it has potential, we start to structure it to make it effective in festivals mainly, but that all types of DJs can play it.
Finally, what are your plans for 2022?
We can say that we started the year in the best way. So we can expect only the best from now on. We will continue together or separately to always aim for the best without ever stopping and maybe finally be able to be in those festivals to play as we dream.
