Australian producer HARLEY GIRL has released “I Know The DJ,” his second single of the year, following “Friction,” which arrived Aug. 19. Released Oct. 14, the new track brings a playful, punchy approach to electronic music, driven by heavy bass and distorted textures.
“I Know The DJ” opens with HARLEY GIRL’s signature kick drum, followed by crisp claps, hi-hats, and a repetitive vocal loop built around the phrase “I know the DJ.” A pulsating, distorted low end gives the track its physical impact, balancing club-ready energy with a playful edge. Its combination of punchy rhythms and aggressive sound design brings to mind the high-impact electronic styles of Fred again.. and Skrillex.

The track began with a search through HARLEY GIRL’s own hard drive, where he rediscovered vocal recordings sent by creative collaborator Callie Reiff about a year earlier. One phrase stood out and became the foundation for the production.
“I feel as if the whole track painted itself for me before I’d started making it,” HARLEY GIRL explained. “It had to be silly, self-aware and a little bit tough, and I feel it landed in that sweet spot.”
